BioI'm Arrie. I write about my grandmother's Adventures in Alzheimers.
QTHNABA (Questions That Have Never Actually Been Asked):
Does Grandma Lois know you're doing this? Oh no. As with most aspects of her life these days, she's clueless. I'm actually typing this while she's looking over my shoulder, like right now, asking me "What is this thing, what are you doin' over here?" I click on pictures of kittens sometimes just for her.
Does anyone in your family know? Well, not as I'm writing this, but I don't care if they do.
Do you really call her Grandma Lo? No. And I definitely don't call her G-Lo. Her name is Lois though.
Is everything written here actually true? Mostly. This is creative non-fiction, so if I say the penny was from 1993, it could have actually been from 2004 (that's the truth). I embellish or make things up to fill gaps, but for the most part, all of her actions are factual. Any of my thoughts or feelings are real.
Is this account chronological? Aye, there's the rub. No, it's not. I meant to start writing this six months ago when I moved back home, and started witnessing it all, but I didn't, so now I have all these stories built up in my mind that need to get written down. So they'll be kind of sporadic and things might not make sense sometimes. You have no idea what the Apples on the Stairs means, for example.
